Archetypes
In this series of sculptures, I explore archetypes of colonization and how they present in both the developed and developing worlds. As a native Sri Lankan living in the US, I use masks that reflect personae that we encounter. The practice connects to a Sri Lankan tradition of Kolam Masks used in folk theater to provide entertainment and social critique.
The collection that will have approximately 15 masks in conversation with each other is a work in progress.
